Another Fiam solution, designed and produced to meet one of the customer's specific requirements: fastening flanges on different types of very large heat exchanger heads for industrial air-conditioning systems. The request called for class 8.8 M16 screws to be driven in horizontally with a torque of 250 Nm. Fiam has come up with a tightening system featuring computerized torque and tightening angle control complete with a jointed arm support. The solution comprises a latest-generation electric nutrunner motor, with no brushes and an ideal weight-power ratio: the motor features a telescopic fitting and a torque-angle transducer, which, together with the encoder, sends signals for the management of the programmed tightening cycles. The permitted tightening torque range is from 40 to 360 Nm. The jointed arm support that the motor is fastened on allows tightening up to 600 Nm and absorbs the relevant reactions. Moreover, it can take a pneumatically balanceable weight of up to 20 kg. The single-channel TOCS - TAC 1 CH G1 - RACK computerized control unit allows the user to check tightening cycles and monitor the cycle immediately (torque/time curve). This computerized control unit can handle a whole host of different tightening situations based on 20 storable programs and produce statistical reports on tightening operations stored in its memory. With its know-how and technology, Fiam has thus produced a cutting-edge system for performing fastening jobs with extremely high and certifiable quality, whilst allowing for the workplace's ergonomics.
