Fiam confirmations, objectives and answers in an interview with Mr. Federico Roma, Fiam Area Manager

"Fiam's recent history has been marked by the continuous pursuit of improved competitive capabilities, in the Export division and elsewhere": this is Mr. Federico Roma's opening remark in an interview, with which the Fiam area manager introduces the objectives set for the export market in 2006.

How do you plan to achieve certain results?
Mr. Roma goes on:  "To pursue this objective, the company has invested uninterruptedly: in improving product features - in terms of performance, ergonomics, consumption, specialization in typical applications of the target sectors (household appliances, car components and general industry) and in non-standard requests - and in increasing the efficiency and qualitative results of the production organization and pre- and after-sales service".

And more specifically for the foreign market?
Mr. Roma replies: "When it comes to the foreign market, in particular, these initiatives must translate into the pursuit of new opportunities in emerging markets and increased effectiveness of the sales network already in place in developed markets. The system adopted whereby Italian area management is kept distinct from Foreign market management, reflecting the necessarily different needs of each, will further contribute to achieving this objective."

Quality, productivity, safety promoted as 'competitive values' even in assembly: but how does the operator, who uses Fiam solutions each day, perceive their quality?
"It doesn't matter whether we're in Italy or abroad, quality is perceived the same way, with each user appreciating just how important it is: to increase assembly line productivity; to boost tightening quality and maintain a constant level; to optimize the operators' working conditions; and to minimize line downtime by increasing reliability of the tools used. In particular, for each distributor, it's important to receive quick and reliable technical answers; to have swift deliveries; to use attractive, up-to-date information means. All areas of the company are run coherently since each is geared towards these targets, which are interpreted as their own essential goals". Mr.Roma finishes off by stating: "Aware of the new distribution of manufacturing at a world level, Fiam will do its utmost to grasp new opportunities as they arise, at the same time assuring mature markets the technological evolution they need to protect their market shares from incursions."
