| "U&C" (Unification & Certification) highlights Fiam's commitment to safety issues |

The U&C (Unification & Certification) magazine - which has been the official organ of Italy's two standards authorities, UNI and CEI, since 1955 - is a source of information and updates on standards defining the quality, safety and environmental compatibility of products, processes and services, as well as accreditation and certification. The April 2006 issue of the magazine features an extensive dossier that begins with an important question: more than ten years on from the Machinery Directive 93/34/EC, how many and which objectives have been implemented by the Italian market? One thing's certain: machinery has to work without exposing operators to avoidable risks. In this dossier, U&C highlights Fiam's commitment with respect to safety from the point of view of overall tightening process quality. With an article covering the evolution of the tightening world from this directive up to decree 187 on vibrations, Fiam deals, above all, with the "risk factors" and "critical factors" that designers cannot afford to overlook if they are to assure operator safety and peak company productivity.
