Fiam Quality and Environment: important corroboration and new goals to reach |
 |
Again Fiam and its Quality Management Systems “passed” the autumn 2006 inspection visits (in accordance with the UNI EN ISO 9001:2000 - “Vision 2000” standard) and those for the Environment (according to UNI EN ISO 14001:2004). The company’s commitment in handling organisation by processes - according to the ISO 9001:2000 directives - was particularly appreciated, a great challenge that still only a few certified Italian companies have taken and known how to address. Besides an eloquent confirmation of the advanced level reached by control by processes, some important ideas for improvement came to light. One of the most important targets is the implementation of a macro mapping that will assist interaction among the different company processes, sub-processes and backup processes so as to guarantee increasing synergy among the people that control the processes. During verification of the Environment Management System, Fiam was found to respect the “principles of sustainable development”: the inspection visit did, in fact, confirm the strong points of the Fiam Environment Management System, underlining the absence of all “non conformities” while indicating yet another important goal to reach. Especially for a company that, like Fiam, has always put maximum commitment into the environment in which it works and lives, it is fundamental to inform and involve its suppliers even more on this front, “directing them” towards ecologically correct company management choices (like the use of environment-friendly products and materials) in line with Fiam’s environmental philosophy.
